I have to share my latest book with all of you. It has nothing to do with travel – well, maybe time travel, because it is historical fiction! In one week I’ll be back on the road with lots of beautiful pictures.

I never knew that retirement as a writer would be such fun! I enjoy writing more than I thought I knew I could. All the traveling I do gives me inspiration. Nature is a tonic for everything that ails me and opens up a space to be creative.

It is a lot of fun to fictionalize the life of my ancestors in Philadelphia where they grew up and carried out their adult lives. I lived across the river in NJ for several years and visited the places they listed on their census records as well as many of the landmarks I mentioned in the books. It gives me a vivid mind’s eye while I write. I wish I could go back in time and ask my grandmother and great Aunt what they thought about suffragists and the equal rights amendment when they grew up. Without that, I have to create a history for them and you. Have fun with the twists and turns in this one and fair warning, there are a few steamy scenes. “Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death,” said Auntie Mame (in the movie).
